“교수님 내리사랑, 제자들이 이어갈게요.”

- 부경대 송하주 교수 제자들, 스승 이름으로 후배장학금 500만 원 기부

국립부경대학교 송하주 교수(소프트웨어·인공지능전공) 제자들이 스승의 날을 맞아 스승의 이름으로 후배장학금을 기부해 주위를 따뜻하게 하고 있다.

㈜더블오 대표이사 정명환 동문(53세·정보공학과 박사수료)은 5월 12일 부경대를 찾아 후배들을 위한 장학금으로 써 달라며 ‘송하주 교수 사랑의 장학금’ 500만 원을 전달했다.

정 동문은 “송하주 교수님 연구실의 제자 15명이 모여 ‘러브송’이라는 모임을 만들어 이어왔는데, 10년째를 맞은 올해 교수님께 감사의 마음을 전달하고 후배들도 지원하고 싶어 제자들이 뜻을 모아 기부하게 됐다.”라고 밝혔다.

그는 “항상 학생들을 중심으로 지도하셨던 교수님은 연구과제 연구비가 나오면 학생들이 자율적으로 사용할 수 있도록 해 주셔서 하고 싶은 공부와 연구에 전념할 수 있었다. 그렇게 졸업한 제자들은 국내 IT기업에 취업하거나 창업에 성공했고, 10년이 지난 지금도 교수님을 찾아뵙고 있다.”라고 말했다.

특히 송 교수는 올해 부경대가 4차산업시대를 이끌어갈 인재를 양성하고 관련 핵심기술과 융합생태계를 연구 개발하기 위해 설립한 단과대학인 정보융합대학의 첫 학장을 맡아 이끌고 있다.

정 동문은 “올해 모교 발전에 중요한 역할을 맡게 된 교수님을 응원하고, 연구실 후배들이 공부하고 연구하는 데에 이번 기부가 적게나마 보탬이 되면 좋겠다. 앞으로도 후배들과 학교를 지원하기 위해 기부를 이어나갈 계획이다.”라고 말했다.

부경대는 이 기부금을 송하주 교수 소속 소프트웨어·인공지능전공 학생들을 위한 장학금으로 사용할 계획이다. <부경투데이>

"Professor, we will take over your love for students."

- The students of prof. Song Ha-Joo of PKNU donated a 5 million won scholarship for students in the name of their professor

Students of professor Song Ha-Joo (software and artificial intelligence) at Pukyong National University, made a heart-warming donation by donating scholarships for school friends in the name of their teacher on Teacher's Day.

On May 12, Jeong Myeong-Hwan (age 53, doctoral course completed in computer and information), the chief officer of the company Double O, visited Pukyong National University and delivered a 'Love scholarship in the name of professor Song Ha-Joo of 5 million won to Pukyong National University on May 12th.

Mr. Jeong said, "Fifteen students from professor Song Ha-Joo's laboratory got together to form a group called 'Love song' and have maintained it, for the 10th anniversary of our gathering this year, we decided to donate together because we wanted to express our gratitude to the professor and support his students as well."

He said, "Professor Song, who has always taught student-centered education, has been able to focus on the studies and research he wants to pursue because the government allows students to use them autonomously when the government grants them funding for research projects. After graduating with his affection, the students employed or succeeded in starting a business in a domestic IT company, and are still visiting the professor 10 years later."

Professor Song is leading as the first dean at the college of information technology and convergence, a college established this year to nurture talents who will lead the 4th industrial era and research and develop related core technologies and convergence ecosystems.

Mr. Jeong said, "We would like to support the professor who will play an important role in the development of our alma mater this year, and if this donation can be of a small contribution for the lab students to their study and research. Our group plans to continue donating to support students and schools."
