국립부경대-이주홍문학재단, 이주홍문학관 이전 추진

- 대학에 문학관 자료 이관 및 기부 협약 체결

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)와 (사)이주홍문학재단(이사장 류청로)이 이주홍문학관(부산 온천동)의 자료 이관 등을 위한 상호협력 협약을 체결했다.

장영수 총장과 류청로 이사장은 4월 5일 국립부경대 대학본부 3층 총장실에서 열린 협약식에서 향파(向破) 이주홍(1906∼1987) 선생의 삶과 문학의 세계를 널리 알리고, 문학자료와 작품 등을 보전, 전시하는 데 협력하기로 했다.

국립부경대와 이주홍문학재단은 이번 협약으로 이주홍문학관에 전시된 1만여 권의 도서, 서화, 유품, 전국 문인들이 보낸 편지 등 이주홍 선생 관련 자료의 이전 및 전시와 함께 문학관 소유재산 기부 등을 추진할 계획이다.

향파 이주홍 선생은 우리나라 근대 아동문학을 이끈 작가로 꼽힌다. 1928년 「신소년」에 첫 동화 ‘배암새끼의 무도(舞蹈)’를 발표하고, 1929년 조선일보에 첫 단편소설 ‘가난과 결혼’으로 문단에 등단했다.

그는 시와 소설뿐만 아니라 수필, 희곡, 동시, 동화, 번역 등 문학 전반에 걸쳐 왕성한 활동으로 한국 문학사에 큰 업적을 남긴 것으로 평가받는다. 대한민국 문화훈장, 대한민국 예술원상, 부산시문화상 등을 수상했다.

특히 이주홍 선생은 1949년부터 국립부경대학교의 전신인 부산수산대학교 교수로 재직하면서 1987년까지 40년 가까이 후학을 양성한 바 있다. 국립부경대는 이주홍 선생이 생전에 강의하던 종합강의동을 ‘향파관’으로 명명하고, 건물 앞에는 그의 문학적 업적을 기리는 ‘향파비’도 세운 바 있다.

국립부경대 대연캠퍼스 북쪽 울타리를 따라 난 골목은 ‘향파문학거리’로 조성돼 이주홍 선생의 작품 60점이 액자에 담겨 전시되고 있기도 하다.

국립부경대와 이주홍문학재단은 이번 협약에 따라 문학관 자료와 재산 기부 방법, 전시공간 확보, 이주홍문학상 운영 등 협력 사항에 대해 구체적인 논의를 진행할 예정이다. <부경투데이>

PKNU and the Lee Ju-Hong literary foundation pushing forward with the relocation of the Lee Ju-Hong literary museum

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) and the Lee Ju-Hong literary foundation (chairman Ryu Cheong-Ro) signed a cooperation agreement for the transfer of materials from the Lee Ju-Hong literary museum (Oncheon-dong, Busan).

President Jang Young-Soo and director Ryu Cheong-Ro held a signing ceremony at Pukyong National University's administration building on April 5th, agreeing to collaborate in promoting the life and literary world of renowned writer Hyangpa, Lee Ju-Hong (1906-1987), as well as in preserving and exhibiting literary materials and his works.

Pukyong National University and the Lee Ju-Hong literary foundation plan to promote the transfer, exhibition, and donation of literary materials related to Lee Ju-Hong, including over 10,000 books, paintings, memorabilia, and letters sent to him by writers nationwide, currently exhibited at the Lee Ju-Hong Literary Museum, as part of this agreement.

Hyangpa Lee Ju-Hong is considered a leading figure in modern Korean children's literature. In 1928, he published his first fairy tale, 'Dance of a young snake', in the magazine 'Sinsonyeon'. The following year, in 1929, he made his literary debut with his first short story, 'poverty and Marriage', published in the Chosun Ilbo.

He is evaluated as having made great achievements in the history of Korean literature through his prolific activities across the entire literature, including not only poetry and novels, but also essays, plays, children's poems, fairy tales, and translations. He was awarded the Korean cultural merit, the Korean academy of arts awards, and the cultural award of Busan metropolitan city.

Lee Ju-Hong served as a professor at the National fisheries university of Busan, the predecessor of Pukyong National University, from 1949 until 1987, nurturing students for nearly 40 years. In honor of his contributions, Pukyong National University renamed the comprehensive lecture building where Lee Ju-Hong taught as the 'Hyangpa building' and erected a monument called the 'Hyangpa monument' in front of the building to commemorate his literary achievements.

The alley along the northern fence at Daeyeon campus has been created as the 'Hyangpa literature street', where 60 works by Lee Ju-Hong are displayed in frames.

Under this agreement, Pukyong National University and the Lee Ju-Hong literary foundation plan to engage in detailed discussions regarding the donation methods for literary materials and assets, securing exhibition space, and operating the Lee Ju-Hong literary award. <Pukyong Today>
