대학 교수된 국가대표 주치의의 발전기금 기부 사연 ‘관심’

20년 넘게 재활의학과 의사로 활약하다 대학에서 인생 제2막을 시작한 교수의 발전기금 기부 사연이 관심을 모은다.

부경대학교 김영훈 교수(50·해양스포츠학과)는 6월 8일 오전 대학본부 5층 총장실을 찾아 대학 발전을 위해 써 달라며 장영수 총장에게 발전기금 1000만원을 전달했다.

김 교수는 “의생명공학, 스마트헬스케어 분야의 발전과 우수 인재 양성을 지원하고, 제2의 창학을 위해 힘쓰고 있는 대학의 경영과 발전에 보탬이 되고 싶어 기부를 결심하게 됐다.”라고 밝혔다.

김 교수는 지난 1998년 의사면허를 취득한 이후 23년간 재활의학과 의사로 근무하다 올해 부경대 해양스포츠학과 교수로 임용된 이색 경력을 가지고 있다.

그는 대한체육회 태릉선수촌 의무실장, 국립재활원 재활의학과장 등을 비롯해 2014년 인천 아시안게임 대한민국 국가대표 주치의, 2018년 평창 동계올림픽 의무위원 등을 역임한 우리나라 스포츠 재활의학 분야 권위자다.

김 교수는 “부상당한 운동선수나 체육동호인들을 치료해오면서 운동보조기구를 개발하거나, 치료에 앞서 부상 예방법과 올바른 운동 방법을 알리는 데 대한 중요성을 체감해 왔는데, 대학에서 그런 바람을 실현할 수 있게 돼 기쁘다.”라고 밝혔다.

그의 임용으로 부경대 해양스포츠학과는 의생명건강과학, 재활의학 분야까지 커리큘럼을 확대할 수 있게 됐다. 특히 스마트헬스케어학부에 재활의학을 융합할 계획이다.

김 교수는 “전공뿐만 아니라 교양과 일반인 강좌를 통해서도 의사로 활동하며 쌓은 경험과 지식을 적극 나눔으로써 스포츠 재활의학과 스마트헬스케어 분야에서 활약할 인재 양성과 이 분야 발전에 보탬이 되면 좋겠다.”라고 말했다. <부경투데이>

The story of a professor who has been active as a rehabilitation medical doctor for more than 20 years and opened a new chapter of his life at university is drawing public attention.

On the morning of June 8, Professor Kim Young-Hoon (age 50, Marine Sports) of Pukyong National University visited the president's office located on the 5th floor of the university administration building and delivered 10 million won development funds to the president Jang Young-Soo, asking him to use it for the development of the university.

Professor Kim said, "I decided to donate because I wanted to contribute to the management and development of the university, which is striving for the development of the field of biomedical engineering and smart health care and the new beginning of the university that supports the nurturing of excellent human resources."

Professor Kim has a unique career, such as being appointed as a professor of Marine Sports at Pukyong National University this year after working as a rehabilitation medical treatment doctor for 23 years since obtaining his doctor's license in 1998.

He is the highest authority in sports rehabilitation medical in Korea, having served as the medical director at the Taereung Athletes' Village at the Korean Sports & Olympic Committee, as the head of the rehabilitation medical department at the National Rehabilitation Center (NRC), as a medical attendant for the Korean national team at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, and as a medical coach at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics.

"Over the years that I have treated injured athletes and sports enthusiasts, I have realized the importance of promoting injury prevention and proper exercise methods prior to the developing or treating exercise aids. and I am so happy to be able to make my wish come true at Pukyong National University," Professor Kim delivered his feelings.

Since the appointment of him as a professor, the Department of Marine Sports at Pukyong National University has been able to expand its curriculum to include biomedical health science and rehabilitation medical treatment. Also, Pukyong National University plans to integrate rehabilitation with the Division of Smart Healthcare.

Professor Kim said, "I hope that the experience and knowledge that I have accumulated while working as a doctor will be actively shared not only in my major but also in liberal arts and public lectures, thereby contributing to the development of talents and development of sports rehabilitation and smart healthcare." <Pukyong Today>
