부경대 이송이 교수, 세계적 학술지 ‘Chemical Reviews’ 총설 논문 게재
- 기초과학 분야 최정상급 학술지 … 혁신적 광민감제 개발전략 연구 ‘주목’

국립부경대학교 이송이 교수(화학과·4차산업융합바이오닉스공학과) 연구팀이 기초과학 분야 최정상급 국제학술지인 ‘Chemical Reviews(IF=60.62)’에 총설 논문을 게재해 주목받고 있다.

이 교수와 Thanh Chung Pham(박사수료), 최영환(석사과정 2년) 등 연구팀은 최근 이 학술지에 혁신적인 광민감제 개발전략을 담은 총설 논문 'Recent Strategies to Develop Innovative Photosensitizers for Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy' 을 게재했다.

미국화학학회 저널(ACS Publications)이 발간하는 ‘Chemical Reviews’는 화학 총설 분야 연구 동향과 전망을 집대성해 제시하는 학술지로, 이 분야 연구자들에게 가장 큰 영향력을 인정받고 있다.


이 교수 연구팀은 이번 논문에서 암, 감염병 등 질병의 광화학 기반 치료법 중 하나인 광역동 치료(Photodynamic therapy)에 활용되는 광활성 화학물질 광민감제(Photosensitizers) 개발전략을 제시했다.

연구팀은 암 등 질병의 비침습 치료를 위해 광민감제를 주사해 특정 파장의 빛으로 표적 조직을 없애는 광역동 치료법과 관련해 현재 활발하게 진행되는 광민감제 개발 및 응용 연구동향과 연구전략을 밝혀 주목받았다.

연구팀은 광민감제 개발에 대한 기존 대다수 논문이 나노물질 및 나노기술에만 초점을 맞추고 있다고 지적하며, 효과적이고 향상된 광역동 치료를 위해 유기 광민감제의 구조 디자인과 개발법 관련 연구 결과들을 정리해 제시함으로써 혁신적인 유기 광민감제 개발을 위한 직관적이고 구체적인 통찰력을 제시했다.

한편 이 교수는 ‘신호증폭을 위한 지능형 기능성 소재 연구’를 주제로 유기단분자 및 공액고분자를 이용한 형광화학 및 비색검출 센서 개발, 유기 기능재료의 설계 및 합성에 대한 연구 등을 활발히 수행하고 있다. <부경투데이>

A research team led by Professor Lee Song-Yi of Pukyong National University (Dept. of Chemistry, Dept. of Industry 4.0 Convergence Bionics Engineering) is attracting public attention by publishing a review paper in 'Chemical Reviews (IF=60.62)', the top international academic journal in the field of basic science.

 

Professor Lee, Thanh Chung Pham (completed doctoral), and Choi Young-Hwan (2 years in master's program), and other research teams recently published a review paper 'Recent Strategies to Develop Innovative Photosensitizers for Enhanced Photodynamic Therapy' in this journal.

 

‘Chemical Reviews’ published by the Journal of the American Chemical Society (ACS Publications) is an academic journal that summarizes research trends and prospects in the field of chemistry, and is recognized as having the greatest influence among researchers in this field.

 

In this paper, Professor Lee's research team presented a strategy to develop photosensitizers, a photoactive chemical used in photodynamic therapy, which is one of the photochemical-based treatments for diseases such as cancer and infectious diseases.

 

The research team gained attraction by unvailing research strategy and development and application research trends and research strategies for photosensitizers, which are currently being actively conducted in relation to photodynamic therapy, which removes target tissues with light of a specific wavelength after injection of a photosensitizer for non-invasive treatment of diseases such as cancer

 

The research team pointed out that most of the existing papers on the development of photosensitizers focus only on nanomaterials and nanotechnology. Instead, they presented intuitive and specific insights for the development of innovative organic photosensitizers by presenting research results related to the structural design and development of organic photosensitizers for effective and improved photodynamic therapy.

 

Professor Lee is actively conducting research on the development of Polydiacetylenes, PDAs, CDr (Continuous Depolymerization after a Reaction-based detection) and research on the design and synthesis of organic functional materials under the theme of ‘research on intelligent functional materials for signal amplification’. <Pukyong Today>
