국립부경대학교(총장 장영수) 물리학과 학부생 김현우 씨(3학년)의 논문이 SCI급 국제학술지 <Journal of Alloys and Compounds> (IF: 6.37)에 실렸다.
김현우 씨는 이 학술지에 논문 ‘Hydrogen-mediated manipulation of luminescence color in single-component Eu doped CaYAlSiO4 by defect passivation’(지도교수 이승훈)을 최근 제1 저자로 게재했다.

The thesis of an undergraduate student in physics at PKNU published in SCI international journal
- Kim Hyun-Woo’s thesis published in the international journal <Journal of alloys and compounds>
The thesis of Kim Hyun-Woo (3-year student), an undergraduate student in the department of physics at Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo), was published in the SCI-level international journal <Journal of alloys and compounds> (IF: 6.37).
Kim Hyun-Woo recently published the paper ‘hydrogen-mediated manipulation of luminescence color in single-component Eu doped CaYAlSiO4 by defect passivation’ (advisory prof. Lee Seunghun) as the first author in this journal.
In this paper, Kim suggested the results of a systematic study on the change in fluorescence properties due to the hydrogen effect in oxide phosphors to develop white-color phosphors with high efficiency and stability.
Recently, as society's interest in energy and environment grows and studies to improve the efficiency and stability of oxide phosphors are being conducted, as oxygen vacancies in oxides have been shown to significantly affect fluorescence properties, he conducted a study on the effect of impurities in hydrogen.
Oxygen vacancies are unintentionally formed by a chemical reduction process in the process of preparing or processing a sample to observe the hydrogen effect. To suppress the formation of oxygen vacancies during the hydrogen treatment process, Kim produced samples in which other elements were substituted for oxide phosphors and experimentally proved the change in fluorescence properties due to the hydrogen effect rather than oxygen vacancies.
Professor Lee Seung-Hun said, “By understanding and controlling the fluorescence properties of oxide phosphors through this study, we expect that it will be helpful not only in the development of high-efficiency phosphors, but also in research on various functional oxides.”
This research was conducted jointly by Kim Hyun-Woo, the first author, and the corresponding author, professor Lee Seung-Hun (dept. of physics) of Pukyong National University, and research professor Oh Ju-Hyun (Industry-university cooperation foundation).
Kim Hyun-Woo said, “As an undergraduate student, I started my lab life early, and I was lacking in many ways, but I think I was able to achieve good results with the support from my professors and senior researchers. I will do my best to share knowledge and achievements while researching together in the future.” <Pukyong Today>
