국립부경대, 한·태평양 도서국 간 협력 네트워크 구축 주관한다

- 해수부 ‘원양협력국 교류 및 인력양성 사업’ 선정 … 사업비 24억

한국과 태평양 도서국 간의 협력 네트워크를 구축하기 위한 해양수산부의 ‘원양협력국 교류 및 인력양성 사업’에 국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)가 주관기관으로 선정됐다.

이 사업은 우리 원양산업의 쿼터 확대와 안정적인 조업, 새 어장 개척을 위한 친한 네트워크 구축 및 태평양 도서국의 지속 가능한 수산업을 위한 역량 강화가 목적이다.

14개 태평양 도서국은 국제 정세에 따른 전략적 요충지로서 중요성이 높아지고 있으며, 해양수산, 천연자원, 기후 등 분야의 협력 강화의 필요성이 커지고 있는 지역이다.

국립부경대는 대학원 해양수산융합과학협동과정, 해양수산개발국제협력연구소를 중심으로 올해부터 2028년까지 5년간 24억여 원을 지원받아 사업을 추진한다.

이에 따라 한국과 태평양 도서국 간의 지속 가능한 수산업 로드맵 구축을 위해 태평양 도서국의 관련분야 실무급 공무원과 고위급 정책결정자를 대상으로 한 워크숍을 해마다 개최할 예정이다.

이와 함께 태평양 도서국들의 기후변화에 대응하고, 지속가능한 수산업을 위해 이들 국가에서 활약할 수산 전공 박사급 전문가 15명을 양성할 계획이다.

국립부경대는 이 사업을 통해 태평양 도서국의 식량안보와 지속가능한 수산자원 이용을 위한 해양수산 전문가 양성을 지원하고, 친한 네트워크를 통한 국내 수산기업의 태평양 도서국 진출과 안정적인 조업 지원 기반도 마련할 수 있을 것으로 기대하고 있다.

한편 국립부경대는 개발도상국의 지속가능한 수산업 발전을 위해 지난 2010년부터 관련분야 공무원, 종사자 등을 대상으로 석사과정인 국제수산과학협동과정을 운영하며 46개국 219명의 수산학 석사를 배출하는 등 한국과 세계의 해양수산분야 친한 네트워크 구축의 중심으로 인정받고 있다. <부경투데이>

PKNU takes the lead in establishing cooperation network among S. Korea and pacific island nations

- securing 2.4 billion won for the Ministry of oceans and fisheries 'fishing cooperative country partnership and human resource development project'

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) has been selected as the host institution for the Ministry of oceans and fisheries 'project for exchange and human resources development between fishing cooperative nations' to establish a cooperation network between Korea and Pacific Island nations.

This project aims to expand the quota for our ocean industry, ensure stable fishing operations, pioneer new fishing grounds, establish a pro-Korea network, and enhance the capacity for sustainable fisheries in Pacific Island nations.

The 14 Pacific Island nations are increasingly becoming strategically important focal points in international affairs, necessitating enhanced cooperation in marine resources, natural resources, and climate-related areas within the region.

Pukyong National University will undertake projects supported by approximately 2.4 billion won annually from 2022 to 2028, focusing on the cooperative program of fisheries integrated science in the Graduate school of world fisheries and the Korea official development assistance (OCEANAID).

Accordingly, in order to establish a sustainable fisheries roadmap between Korea and Pacific Island nations, the university plans to hold workshops every year for working-level officials and high-level policymakers from Pacific Island nations in related fields.

In addition, there are plans to train 15 doctoral-level experts in fisheries who will be active in these countries to address climate change and promote sustainable fisheries in the Pacific Island nations.

Through this project, Pukyong National University expects to support the training of ocean and fisheries experts to enhance food security and promote sustainable use of marine resources in the Pacific Island nations, while also establishing a foundation for domestic fisheries companies to expand into these nations and provide stable operational support through the pro-Korea network.

Since 2010, Pukyong National University has been recognized as a central figure in building a close network in the field of marine and fisheries between Korea and the world, operating the International cooperative program in fisheries science, targeting government officials, practitioners, and others in related fields from developing countries, with the aim of promoting sustainable fisheries development and has resulted in the graduation of 219 fisheries science masters from 46 countries. <Pukyong Today>
