국립부경대, ‘68년 전통’ 원양승선실습 출항

- 28일 출항식 … 학생 승무원·127명 32일간 항해

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)는 6월 28일 용호만 매립부두에서 ‘2024학년도 원양승선실습 출항식’을 열었다.

이날 오전 해양생산시스템관리학부, 수해양산업교육과, 기계시스템공학전공 학생 92명과 승무원 35명 등 127명은 최첨단 실습선 백경호(선장 류경진·3,997톤)를 타고 32일간의 원양승선실습에 나섰다.

국립부경대의 원양승선실습은 우리나라에서 처음으로 동원그룹 김재철 명예회장 등 학생 48명이 1957년 대만 기륭항에 진출한 데서 시작됐다. 올해 68년째를 맞은 이 실습은 우리나라 원양 산업과 경제의 기틀을 다졌고, 오늘날에는 미래 첨단 해양수산 신산업 분야 인재 양성프로그램으로 자리 잡았다.

국립부경대생들은 출항식에 이어 부산을 출항해 7월 29일까지 우리나라 동해, 남해, 서해와 일본, 대만 해역 등에서 실습하며 항해술, 어로조업, 전자통신 운용, 선박기관 운용, 자동제어시스템 운용 등 STCW 국제협약에 따른 항해사 및 기관사 교육과정을 현장에서 익히게 된다.

이와 함께 일본 하코다테항, 대만 기륭항 등에 기항해 대학과 기관 등을 방문해 교류하며 국제 네트워크 구축에도 나설 계획이다.

장영수 총장은 실습생들에게 “우리 국립부경대학교 원양승선실습은 그동안 수산·해양 분야의 수많은 인재를 배출하여 국가 경제발전에 크게 이바지해 왔다. 실습생 여러분도 빛나는 자부심을 가슴에 안고 전공 분야 지식뿐만 아니라 수산해양 분야의 지도자 자질을 쌓기 위해 최선의 노력을 다해 주시기를 바란다.”라고 격려했다. <부경투데이>

PKNU sets sail for '68-year tradition' offshore sailing training

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) held the 'offshore sailing training departure ceremony of 2024 academic year' on June 28 at the reclaimed pier of Yongho-man bay.

On this day, a total of 127 people, including 92 students from the division of marine production system management, the department of fisheries education, a major of electrical engineering, and including 35 crew members, started the 30-day training voyage.

Pukyong National University's offshore sailing training began in 1957 when 48 students, including honorary chairman Kim Jae-Cheol of the Dongwon group, ventured to Ji-long port in Taiwan, marking the first voyage from Korea. Now in its 68th year, this training has laid the foundation for the country's offshore industry and economy, and today, it has become a program for cultivating talents in the future advanced marine and fisheries new industry fields.

Through this program, Pukyong National University students will learn in the east sea, south sea, west sea of Korea and the Japanese sea, and learn the navigator and engineer programs on the sea in accordance with the STCW International Convention, including courses in fishing, navigation, electronic communication operation, ship engine operation, and automatic control system operation.

Additionally, the students plan to visit universities and institutions at ports of call such as Hakodate Port in Japan and Keelung Port in Taiwan to engage in exchanges and build international networks.

President Jang Young-Soo encouraged the trainees, saying, "Our Pukyong National University offshore training voyage has greatly contributed to the national economic development by producing numerous talents in the fisheries and marine fields.
