국립부경대, 자유전공학부 1,000명 이용할 ‘과방’ 문 열어
- 19일 ‘자유전공학부 오픈라운지’ 개소 … 학술정보관 2층

국립부경대학교(총장 배상훈)는 3월 19일 오전 학술정보관 2층에서 ‘자유전공학부 오픈라운지’ 개소식을 열었다.
‘자유전공학부 오픈라운지’는 국립부경대가 올해 처음 신설한 자유전공학부의 신입생들이 전공을 탐색하고 교류 활동을 할 수 있도록 돕기 위해 특별히 마련한 공간이다.
대학 신입생들은 강의 전후 공강 시간에 소속 학과의 과방(학과 휴게실)에서 동기, 선배들과 교류할 수 있는데, 국립부경대는 아직 학과·전공이 정해지지 않은 자유전공학부 신입생들에게도 이런 공간을 제공하기 위해 오픈라운지를 조성했다.
이 라운지는 중앙도서관이 있는 학술정보관 2층에 80여 평에 이르는 규모로 조성됐다. 이용 대상자는 자유전공학부 신입생 896명과 전공탐색 멘토 148명 등 1,044명이다.
자유전공학부 신입생들은 디지털 장비와 세미나룸 등을 갖춘 이곳에서 학습, 휴식, 토론할 수 있고, 전공탐색 멘토, 길라잡이교수와도 상시 멘토링을 진행할 수 있다.
국립부경대는 자유전공학부 신입생들을 전담 관리하는 자유전공길라잡이센터를 신설하고, 재학생 148명으로 구성된 전공탐색 멘토단과 총 73명의 전공별 지도교수를 배정하고 있다.
국립부경대는 자유전공학부 신입생들이 오픈라운지를 자유롭게 이용할 수 있도록 개방하고, 이용 활성화를 위해 설문조사를 한 방문자에게 기념품을 증정하는 오픈 기념 이벤트도 연다.
자유전공길라잡이센터장 최호석 교수는 “자유전공학부 학생들이 이 공간에서 마음껏 전공을 탐색하고 진로와 미래를 설계할 수 있도록 지원해 대학생활에 동기와 활력을 부여하는 공간으로 거듭나도록 힘쓰겠다.”라고 밝혔다. <부경투데이>
Pukyong National University Opens ‘Department Room’ for 1,000 College of Liberal Studies Students

Pukyong National University (President: Bae Sang-hoon) held the opening ceremony of the ‘College of Liberal Studies Open Lounge’ on the 2nd floor of the Academic Information Center on March 19.
The ‘College of Liberal Studies Open Lounge’ is a specially designed space to help first-year students of the newly established College of Liberal Studies explore majors and engage in exchange activities.
At universities, first-year students typically have the opportunity to interact with their peers and upperclassmen in their department's room (department lounge) during break times before and after lectures. Pukyong National University, however, created the Open Lounge to provide a similar space for the first-year students of the College of Liberal Studies, whose majors have not yet been decided.
The lounge, located on the second floor of the Academic Information Center, which houses the central library, spans approximately 80 pyeong(approximately 264 square meters). The space is available to 896 first-year students of the College of Liberal Studies, as well as 148 major exploration mentors, totaling 1,044 people.
The freshmen of the College of Liberal Studies can use this space, equipped with digital devices and seminar rooms, for studying, resting, and discussing. They can also engage in ongoing mentoring with major exploration mentors and guidance professors.
Pukyong National University has established the Liberal Studies Mentoring Center to manage freshmen and has assigned a mentoring team of 148 current students and 73 faculty members from various departments for academic guidance.
Pukyong National University has opened the Open Lounge for freshmen of the College of Liberal Studies to use freely, and to encourage its use, they are holding an opening event where visitors who participate in a survey will receive a commemorative gift.
Professor Choi Ho-seok, the head of the Liberal Studies Mentoring Center, stated, "We will strive to make this space a place where students of the College of Liberal Studies can freely explore their majors, design their careers and future, and find motivation and vitality for their university life." <Pukyong Today>
