PKNU won the grand prize by contesting policy proposals related to the realization of the 6th municipality and regionalization

- Students from the Dept. of Chinese Studies received Grand, Excellence and Participation prize

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo)'s Department of Chinese Studies students won the grand prize, excellence prize, and participation prize at the 6th Local Municipality and Regionalization Realization Policy Proposal Competition.

In this competition recently held by the Busan Ilbo and the Busan Citizens’ Solidarity for Decentralized Development with the Busan Daily, Kwon Tae-Hoon (3rd year) and Jeong Ha-Neul (4th year) from the Department of Chinese Studies (Advisory Professor Seo Chang-Bae) at Pukyong National University won the grand award with a prize of 3 million won as 'Plans to create an eco-friendly, livable image for Busan by installing a container charging station that reflects zero waste'.

Based on the fact that a large amount of money is being spent on waste disposal in Busan, they proposed a policy to set up a 'zero-waste shop' in Busan that can reduce waste to zero and received the best evaluation.

The policy proposed by the students received good reviews at the competition as an idea to not only prevent environmental pollution and practice eco-friendly consumption, but also to revitalize the local economy by introducing a 'zero-waste shop' that reuses containers containing products once and does not throw them away.

At the same time, Kim Eun-Young (completed Ph.D.) from the same department was awarded the excellence award with a prize of 1.5 million won for 'Study on ways to revitalize the megacity of Busan, Ulsan and Gyeongnam through the Mega BUGi strategy'.

Kim Hyeon-Hee (3rd year) and Lee Chan-Young (4th year) of the same department received the participation award for 'Dreaming of Plan B for Busan - Job Creation Project for the Elderly in Busan'.

The contest was held for university (graduate) students and citizens nationwide with themes of various fields related to vitalization of local municipality, strengthening of regionalization, and balanced national development. <Pukyong Today>
