부경대생, ‘소리 보여주는 HUD’로 공학페스티벌 최우수상

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수) 전기공학전공 서용교, 김가빈, 김민서, 차영화, 컴퓨터공학부 윤어진 학생팀이 산업통상자원부 주최로 최근 일산 킨텍스에서 열린 2022 공학페스티벌의 창의적 종합설계 경진대회에서 최우수상을 수상했다.

부경대생들은 전국 73개 대학의 142개 팀 공학계열 대학생들이 참가한 이번 대회에 ‘소리를 보여주는 헤드업 디스플레이’ 설계작품으로 상금 300만 원의 산업통상자원부장관상인 이 상을 받았다.

이 작품은 자동차 외부에서 들리는 소리의 방향과 크기를 운전자 전면의 HUD에 표시하는 시스템이다. 자동차 앞, 뒤, 옆에 설치된 6개의 마이크 센서로 소리를 인식하고, 소리가 난 방향과 크기를 HUD의 원형 LED에 표시해주는 방식이다.

이들은 자동차 뒤에서 다른 차량이 경적을 울리면 원형 LED 아래쪽에, 오른쪽에서 다른 차량이 경적을 울리면 원형 LED 오른쪽에 빛이 들어오도록 설계했다. 또 운전자 좌석에 설치한 8개의 진동모터를 통해 소리가 난 방향에 진동도 주도록 했다.

이 작품은 청각 장애인 운전자의 안전은 물론, 동승자와 주변의 안전까지 확보할 수 있는 우수한 설계작으로 인정받았다.

이와 함께 전기공학전공 김민솔, 문수혁, 곽보승, 우창식, 김종우, 의공학전공 윤소이 학생팀은 이번 대회에 ‘해상풍력발전의 잉여생산전력을 이용한 수소생산 장치’로 벤처기업협회장상인 특별상을 수상하는 등 부경대생들은 부경대 공학교육혁신센터(센터장 손민영)의 교내 캡스톤디자인 경진대회 등 대회 출전 지원을 받아 이 같은 성과를 거뒀다.

한편 올해 대면행사로 진행된 공학페스티벌은 창의적 종합설계 경진대회, 콜로키움, 공학퀴즈쇼 등 청년공학도의 창의적인 아이디어 교류의 장을 조성하기 위한 다양한 프로그램으로 진행됐다. <부경투데이>

PKNU students won the first prize at the Engineering Education Festa with ‘sounding visualizable HUD’

A student team of Seo Yong-Gyo, Kim Ga-Bin, Kim Min-Seo, and Cha Young-Hwa from the Division of Electrical Engineering and a student team led by Yoon Eu-Jin from the Department of Computer Engineering at Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) won the top prize in the capstone design fair at the Engineering Education Festa 2022 recently held at Kintex in Ilsan, hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Pukyong National University students received a 3 million won cash prize from the Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy for their work ‘sound visualizable HUD’ in this competition, in which 142 teams of engineering majoring students from 73 universities nationwide participated.

This work is a system that displays the direction and size of the sound heard from outside the car on the HUD located in front of the driver. It recognizes sound with six microphone sensors installed on the front, rear, and side of the car, and displays the direction and intensity of the sound on the circular LED of the HUD.

They designed the bottom of the circular LED to light up when another vehicle honks from behind the car and the right side of the round LED lights up when another vehicle honks on the right side of the driving car. In addition, through eight vibration motors installed in the driver's seat, a vibrating notification is provided in the direction of the sound.

This work was recognized as an excellent design that can secure the safety of drivers with hearing impairments as well as the safety of passengers and their surroundings.

Along with this, the student team of Kim Min-Sol, Moon Soo-Hyeok, Kwak Bo-Seung, Woo Chang-Sik, Kim Jong-Woo from the Department of Electrical Engineering, and Yoon So-Yi from the Department of Biomedical Engineering won a special award from the president of the Korea Venture Business Association for their design work, the ‘hydrogen production device using surplus production power of offshore wind power’ in this competition, and students of Pukyong National University were supported to participate in competitions such as the capstone design contest by the Innovation Center for Engineering (Director Son Min-Young) of Pukyong National University and attained such an achievement.

The Engineering Education Festa 2022, which was held face-to-face this year, consisted of various programs such as the capstone design fair, colloquium, and engineering quiz show to create a venue for exchanging creative ideas among young engineers. <Pukyong Today>
