부경대, ‘공학교육혁신 잘했다’ 산자부 장관 표창

- 공학교육혁신센터 청년 공학인재 양성 기여 공로 인정

국립부경대학교 공학교육혁신센터(센터장 손민영)는 산업통상자원부 한국산업기술진흥원(KIAT) 주관 2022 공학교육혁신 유공자(단체) 포상에서 우수 공학교육혁신센터로 선정돼 산업통상자원부 장관 표창을 수상했다고 밝혔다.

부경대 공학교육혁신센터는 우리나라 공학교육 혁신과 청년 공학인재 양성에 크게 기여한 공로를 인정받아 최근 일산 킨텍스에서 열린 2022 공학페스티벌 개막식 행사로 진행된 시상식에서 표창을 받았다.

부경대 공학교육혁신센터는 10년 이상 오랜 활동을 통해 부경대 공과대학 공학교육 혁신을 주도하며 창의적 청년 공학인재 양성을 위한 교육인프라 구축 및 환경 조성에 공헌해왔다.

이 센터는 공학교육 혁신 중장기 로드맵에 따라 산업통상자원부 한국산업기술진흥원 주관 창의융합형공학인재양성지원사업에 2007년(1단계·5년) 선정을 시작으로 2012년(2단계·10년), 2022년(3단계·6년) 연속 선정되는 한편, 2018년과 2020년, 2021년에는 동남권 공학교육혁신센터 올해의 대학상(최우수상)을 받는 등 창의적 공학인재 양성 및 공학교육의 글로벌 경쟁력 제고 역량을 인정받고 있다.

특히 센터는 올해 창의융합형공학인재양성지원사업의 차세대 LifeStyle-IoT가전 분야에 1순위로 선정됨에 따라 2027년까지 6년간 약 13억 원의 연구개발비를 지원받아 공과대학 및 공학계열 학생들을 대상으로 △산업수요 특화 교육(IoT가전) △캡스톤디자인 △기업연계프로그램 △창업역량강화프로그램 △인문소양융합 프로그램 등을 운영할 계획이다.

손민영 센터장은 “학생들은 물론 교원, 직원 등 모든 분이 공학교육 혁신에 열정적으로 참여해 좋은 평가를 받은 것 같다. 앞으로도 창의 융합형 공학인재 양성과 공과대학 발전을 위해 더욱 노력하겠다.”라고 밝혔다. <부경투데이>

‘Well-achieved engineering education innovation’, PKNU received a commendation from the MOTIE Minister

Pukyong National University Innovation Center for Engineering Education (Director Son Min-Young) has announced that the center was selected as an excellent engineering education innovation center in the Engineering Education Innovation Contributor (organization) Award 2022 category hosted by the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy (MOTIE) and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) and received a commendation from the minister.

Pukyong National University Innovation Center for Engineering Education received a commendation at the awards ceremony held as the opening ceremony of the recent Engineering Education Festa 2022 held at KINTEX in Ilsan in recognition of its contribution to innovation in engineering education and fostering young engineering talents in Korea.

Through long-term activities for over 10 years, Pukyong National University Innovation Center for Engineering Education has led innovations in engineering education in Pukyong National University’s College of Engineering, contributing to the establishment of educational infrastructure and the creation of an environment to nurture creative young engineering talents.

In accordance with the medium and long-term roadmap for innovation in engineering education, the center was selected for a project for supporting the development of convergent engineering researchers hosted by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology under the Ministry of Trade, Industry, and Energy in 2007 (1st stage for 5 years), in 2012 (2nd stage for 10 years), and in 2022 (3rd stage for 6 years) consecutively. In addition, in 2018, 2020, and 2021, the center was recognized for its capacity to nurture creative engineering talents and enhance global competitiveness in engineering education, such as receiving the university of the year award (top prize) from the Southeast Innovation Center for Engineering Education.

In particular, as the center was selected first in the next-generation LifeStyle-IoT home appliance field of the project for supporting the development of convergent engineering researchers this year, it receives approximately 1.3 billion won in R&D expenses for 6 years until 2027 and plans to provide programs such as industrial demand specialized education (IoT home appliances), capstone design, business linkage programs, entrepreneurship capacity building programs, and humanities literacy convergence for engineering colleges students.

Son Min-Young, director of the center, said, “I think we got a good rating because all the faculty and staff, as well as the students, were passionately involved in the innovation of engineering education.
