부경대·동서대, 양 대학 공동학위 수여 ‘디지털금융학과’ 신설한다

- 첨단학과 공동 신설 및 운영 … 내년부터 신입생 각 20명 선발

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)와 동서대학교(총장 장제국)가 양 대학 학위를 모두 수여하는 첨단학과인 ‘디지털금융학과’ 신설을 추진하고 나섰다.

부경대와 동서대는 첨단기술인 디지털금융 분야 인재를 양성하기 위해 공동학과인 디지털금융학과 신설을 교육부에 2월 3일 승인 요청했다.

양 대학은 지난해 한국거래소와의 산학협력 협약에 이어 최근 디지털금융학과 공동 신설 및 운영을 위한 세부협약도 체결했다. 이에 따라 내년 2024학년도부터 디지털금융학과 신입생을 각 20명씩 선발할 계획이다. 이 학과를 졸업한 학생은 양 대학의 공동학위를 받을 수 있다.

이 학과의 교육목적은 미래 금융산업을 선도할 ‘퀀트(QUANT, Quantitative Analyst·전략적 분석가)형’ 핀테크 전문인재를 키우는 것이다. 디지털 금융중심지로 도약하고 있는 부산의 혁신 노력을 기반으로 신기술 인재양성 선도모델을 구축한 것이다.

이를 위해 재무·금융이론, 수학·통계 이론 및 데이터과학·프로그래밍, 블록체인, 빅데이터 및 ICT 금융 기술, 인턴십·현장실습 등 교육과정을 공동으로 구성해 운영한다.

공동 교육과정에 따른 교과목은 각 대학에 나누어 개설된다. 학생들은 양 대학에 오가며 강의를 듣고 학점을 취득한다. 교원은 최종 대학별 4명 이상, 총 8명 이상의 전임교원이 배치될 계획이다.

공동학과 신설 운영을 위해 부경대는 ‘디지털 신기술 인재양성과정’, ‘SW전문인재양성사업’ 등 디지털 혁신 인재 육성 인프라를, 동서대는 AI, 빅데이터, 사물인터넷 등 융합·연계전공 및 학·석사 연계트랙 등 인프라를 전략적으로 투입할 계획이다.

특히 양 대학은 부산시, 한국거래소와 연계·협업하며 지역과 현장 중심의 학습 운영체계를 구축해 미래 산업을 선도하고, 세계에서 활약하는 글로벌 인재를 양성하는 데 시너지 효과를 얻을 것으로 기대하고 있다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University and Dongseo university establish ‘Dept. of digital finance’ that grants a joint degree

Pukyong National University (President Jang Young-Soo) and Dongseo university (president Chang Je-Kuk) are promoting the establishment of the Department of Digital Finance, a high-tech department that can award degrees from both universities.

Pukyong National University and Dongseo university requested approval from the Ministry of education on February 3 to jointly establish a digital finance department, to nurture professionals in the high-tech digital finance field.

Following the industry-university cooperation agreement with the Korea exchange last year, both universities recently signed a detailed agreement for the joint establishment of the Department of digital finance. Accordingly, both university plans to select 20 new students from each university to enter the Department of digital finance from the 2024 school year. Students who graduate from this department can receive a joint degree from both universities.

The educational purpose of this department is to nurture ‘QUANT (quantitative analyst)’ fintech experts who will lead the future financial industry. Based on the efforts for 'innovation of Busan', which is taking off as a digital financial center, it has established a leading model for fostering new technology professionals.

They plan to jointly organize and operate education courses on finance and financial theory, mathematics and statistical theory, data science and programming, blockchain, big data and ICT financial technology, internships and field training.

Subjects according to the joint curriculum are divided and opened at each university. Students will go back and forth between the two universities to take lectures and earn credits for them. As for the faculty, it is planned that at least 4 full-time professors will be assigned to each university, with a total of 8 or more.

To operate the new joint department, Pukyong National University plans to establish an infrastructure for training digital innovation talents such as the ‘digital new technology experts training course’ and ‘SW professional training project’ and Dongseo university plans to strategically deploy infrastructure for convergence and related majors such as AI, big data, and the internet of things, as well as a combined master's and doctorate program.

Both universities expect to achieve a synergistic effect in collaborating with Busan city and the Korea exchange to lead future industries by establishing a regional and field-oriented learning operating system and fostering global talent active in the world. <Pukyong Today>
