국립부경대, 지역혁신(RIS) 사업 ‘양자·금융’ 과제 선정

- 양자·금융 연구인프라 구축 및 고급인력 양성

국립부경대학교(총장 장영수)가 2024년 지자체-대학 협력기반 지역혁신사업(RIS)의 양자·금융 과제에 선정됐다.

국립부경대는 물리학과 박희철, 이규섭, 이승훈 교수, 컴퓨터·인공지능공학부 김태국, 한영선 교수 컨소시엄으로 이번 RIS 사업의 ‘금융문제 해결을 위한 양자-고전 하이브리드 시스템 연구 생태계 조성 및 고급인력양성’ 과제에 선정됐다.

RIS 사업은 부산광역시의 지역혁신체계 구축을 통한 지역대학과 산업의 동반성장을 위해 지역대학을 대상으로 양자·금융, 평생교육·창업 분야 과제 주관기관을 선정해 지원하는 사업이다.

국립부경대는 이번 사업 선정으로 물리학과가 양자 소재/소자 개발 및 측정 기술 첨단화 플랫폼 구축에 나서고, 컴퓨터·인공지능공학부가 금융문제 특화 양자 소프트웨어 개발 플랫폼 구축을 통해 연구인프라 조성 및 고급인력 양성에 나선다.

양자과학기술은 기존 컴퓨터의 기본단위인 비트가 아닌 중첩 특성을 가진 큐비트를 활용해 연산 처리 속도를 크게 높일 수 있어 인공지능, 금융 등 다양한 분야의 혁신에 큰 영향을 미칠 것으로 기대되는 기술이다.

국립부경대 컨소시엄은 이 사업을 통해 양자 연구인프라 구축을 비롯해 △전문가 초청 세미나 △국제 워크숍 개최 △양자 전문 연구원 현장 견학 △국제 인력 교류/파견 △석·박사 인력양성 트랙 개발 등의 프로그램을 진행할 계획이다.

국립부경대 박희철 사업단장은 “이 사업이 부산의 미래 육성산업인 양자과학기술과 금융 산업의 융합을 위한 초석이 될 것으로 기대한다. 부산의 양자-고전 하이브리드 연구인프라 구축과 고급인력 양성에 최선을 다하겠다.”라고 밝혔다. <부경투데이>

Pukyong National University Selected for Regional Innovation System (RIS) Project in 'Quantum and Finance'

- Establishing Quantum and Finance Research Infrastructure and Training High-Level Experts

Pukyong National University(President Jang Young-Soo) has been selected for the 2024 Regional Innovation System(RIS) project in the quantum and finance fields.

The university's consortium, consisting of Professors Park Hee-Chul, Lee Kyu-Seop, and Lee Seung-Hoon from the Department of Physics, and Professors Kim Tae-Guk and Han Young-Seon from the Department of Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence was selected for the RIS project titled "Establishing a Quantum-Classical Hybrid System Research Ecosystem for Solving Financial Problems and Training High-Level Experts."

The RIS project supports local universities in the fields of quantum/finance, lifelong education, and entrepreneurship, aiming to foster joint growth between local universities and industries through the establishment of a regional innovation system in Busan.

With this selection, Pukyong National University will develop an advanced platform for quantum materials and device measurement technology through its Department of Physics. The Department of Computer Engineering and Artificial Intelligence will establish a quantum software development platform specialized in solving financial problems, thereby enhancing research infrastructure and training high-level professionals.

Quantum science and technology, which utilizes qubits with superposition properties instead of the traditional bits used in classical computers, is expected to significantly accelerate computational processing, revolutionizing various fields such as artificial intelligence and finance.

Pukyong National University consortium plans to implement several programs under this project, including △ expert seminars, △ international workshops, △ field visits to quantum research facilities, △ international personnel exchanges and dispatches, and △ the development of master's and Ph.D. training tracks.

Park Hee-Chul, the head of the project, stated, "We expect this project to serve as a foundation for integrating quantum science and technology with the financial industry, a key future industry for Busan.
